Any sign typically a name, word, phrase, logo, symbol, design, image, or a combination of these elements, capable of being represented graphically can be registered as Trade Mark.
Thus Trade Mark may be combination of one or of words, slogans, letters, and numerals. They may also include graphics like drawings, symbols, three-dimensional signs. Trade Marks are protected for a period of 10 years, and are renewable indefinitely.
A trade mark signifies the following:
- It identifies the goods/or services and its origin.
- It guarantees that it won’t change the quality
- It advertises the goods/services
- It creates an image for the goods/services.
